Vista + WLM Error Code 81000306

I don’t use Vista at work and at home, there isn’t enough time to check emails (family+study) let alone chat. But if you use Vista and WLM and see this error code, here is a cool fix. Will serve as a reference for me as well.

- Click start
- Type: cmd (but don’t hit Enter)
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter

Then just sign into WLM; you don’t even have to reboot.

    THANK YOU!! I almost regretted spending thousands on a new computer for this one simple problem!

    What exactly is it that causes the problem and what does the fix do?

    Does it adversely affect anything else?

    @Matt,
    Problem could be because of performance auto-tuning in Vista.

    I have found that setting autotuning to HIGH also corrects the problem:
    netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=high

    After setting autotuning to disable i was still unable to connect to the .Net Messenger Service. This was the only solution that worked for me so thank you. So try setting autotuning to HIGH it might work for you too if DISABLE doesn’t. I’m running Vista Ultimate with Norton 360 as my firewall program.

    Great stuff on here. But there may be a simpler solution. A Registry Cleaner was the key for my problems to be solved and prevented. I mean I got a free DL and scan (most offer a free down load and scan)and from there it showed me what was up in my system and solved it. They constantly scan your system and fix the things that are going wrong, in turn preventing errors and headaches. Its a pretty good solution for such a mess of an error, or atleast I think so.
